As for a starter electric guitar you don't want to go expensive. When i started I purchased a Fender Squire Affinity that came with a practice amp for $300. Ephiphone or Yamaha are also good starter choices. Best of luck to you and keep on Rockin.

I have played guitar for just over a year now and i have tried everything from Rocksmith. Yousician, Guitar Jams and even JustinGuitar -which is excellent btw. Guitar tricks is amazing and will show you everything you need to know. Start with Guitar Fundamentals and work your way up. Once you get through the fundmentals you can choose your path rock, country, blues, jazz etc. or you don't have to choose and learn them all.
