In the UK, at least, a pair of SD humbuckers will cost about £150 including fitting, less if you do it yourself.

The 550EX has, I think, the Low Pro Edge trem, maybe just the Edge, whereas the JEM 555 has a TRS trem, so a 550 with new pickups will, in my view, be a better guitar.

The 555 is not viewed as being a "real" JEM by any of the collectors; it's so much lower specced than the others. An RG5xx with new pickups is almost indisputably a better guitar than the 555, for quite a lot less money.

hi agein.

I just found a guitar import site and they was verry cheap compared to other stores in norway. So im thinking of maybe getting the Jem 7v. Its evolution pickups and lo pro edge. Scalloped (21-24 fret)

So what shoul i get RG-550EX (and buy other pickups) or buy the Jem 7v?? (thats already got more than good pickups) The price diffrent is about 1000 $ between RG550ex and Jem 7v. So what do i get by pay 1000 $ more? better pickups? Yes. Anything else?? or do i just pay mutch more because Steve Vai's name is on it??

I can barly afford the jem 7v. But if its no use please tell me!!

Hey, is there anyone out there that knows much about the Le Paul Gibson? i bought one knew in 1981 and it is gold and has a {Reg.No42}on the headstock between the keys on a pearl plate. When i purchased it the guy said that there was just a few of them made, it is a 1980 model, i haved tried to find out but i havent had any luck, i was wandering if it was a limited edition or just another Les Paul, oh yea its in the pic on my guitartricks page, thanks.

When ya just gotta know... Who ya gonna call?

GuitarsCanada.com

Send a detailed request via the 'Contact Us' icon on the home page. Serial #, hardware, type of pickups, finish colour, anything that can help them pin it down. Digital pix you can e-mail when you are contacted is a good bonus.

Good luck,
L.

That's a nice site L.

I have to say that I've contacted Gibson and got back info on the guitar quite quickly. Try emailing customer support with the colour, serial number, year and pickups fitted. You may be lucky
Accuracy,you say? hmm interesting concept..

Hi, i have a 1980 model Gibson Lespaul Custom with a pearl plate on the back of the headstock with (Reg.No42) on it, is it a limited addition? i cant find anything on it but havent seen one with that on it before, when i bought it i was told they made a low number of them, it is a gold color, if anyone knows anything about it let me know.

Hey Terry. Try this link, scroll to the bottom, click on Descriptions of Electric Guitars.... I couldn't open it myself, maybe you'll have more luck and find some info.
