The absolutely best place to start is with the fundamentals courses! :)

Start with Guitar Fundamentals 1 & 2. After that, it depends on what style you want to learn. And it seems that you do!
[QUOTE=davidpoppy]I just want to get good enough to entertain myself. Finger picking stuff like gordon lightfoot or just getting good at fingerpicking anything slow and sad, coffeeshop stuff.
It's great that you have a goal in mind for your playing. The way to get there would be to complete GF 1 & 2, then work through some of Lisa's acoustic fingerpicking material.

Go down that page about halfway until you get to "Acoustic Fingerpicking for Beginners". After you build the basic skills in GF 1 & 2, those are the lessons that will help you gain the knowledge & skills to play the type of tunes you want.
Caren also has some great acoustic picking material.

And once you start gaining some skills, head over to the GT songs page & check out the songs for beginners!

Once you get good enough at fretting chords & doing right hand fingerpicking patterns you can find a ton of songs to do in the Acoustic category!

Hope this helps. Please ask more if necessary & have fun!
