If you're trying to do a full barre, you could practice just the barring of all six strings on one fret.

Something like this:

E|--3--
B|--3--
G|--3--
D|--3--
A|--3--
E|--3--

You could also try taking it in segments, so barre the first three strings and then the last three strings.

Also note that you don't have to play all the strings for a barre chord. You could just play these shapes:

E|-----------
B|-----------
G|--4--------
D|--5-----5--
A|--5--5--5--
E|--3--3--3--
