You should try playing music with other people, if you haven't done so already. I have found this to be a big help--I always learn something new from other people, no matter what instrument they play. I have a friend who plays mostly drums, but he can play anything. He recently picked up my guitar and played a killer solo over a little D-jam I made up. He said we need to "take some chances," and this phrase has stuck with me. Now when I play, I try to go beyond what I know and take a few chances. Try it.
