Hey there⦠Yeah, I wonder when I use that term, how many folks are familiar with it! It is short for "accompaniment". So basically, any time there is an accompaniment or rhythm pattern it can be called a "comp" or "comp pattern" for short. You'll hear guys say "comp for this section" at jam sessions and such, good term to be familiar with I think! :)
