Sometime I do take a break if I don't have the chops for something. But there are times as mentioned above that you need to say, "Whatever it takes, I'm going to learn this."
I'm working on a song piece now, and I'm taking it slow, really slow. Like 60pm slow until I nail it. Then I'll gradually increase it to normal speed.
This isn't going to happen overnight. It takes time.
