Welcome, I'm 43 and joined recently for similar reasons. I have at least 6 different guitar books and 3 DVDs on guitar instruction. Like you I learned something from some of them but I wasn't progressing like I had hoped.

I played for a year several years back and just picked it up again 3 months ago.
I started at the Core Lessons. Level One was too basic for me but I watched several of them anyways to make sure I didn't miss something that I didn't pick up from the other materials. Level Two has been excellent and I've learned a lot. I knew a lot of theory from being in band in school, but I didn't know how some of it applied to guitar. I've enjoyed the lesson.

I've also looked at some of the songs that would interest me. The easier ones of course!

I'd say go through the basics even if you already know it. I didn't pick up anything new until Level Two and I almost skipped that one. Glad I didn't.

Fast forward through the basic ones until you get to something that gets interesting for you.
