Hello ya'll. I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Rodney and I'm a 64 year old retired Paramedic. I worked EMS for close to 25 years. I played a Martin D-26, 12 string, back in the late 70's and early 80's, but ended up losing it, (don't ask, long story... lol..). I never had any formal instructions, didn't even know what a "scale" was, but I could play a few chords and a couple songs. A little over a month ago, I acquired a used Guild F112-NT, 12 string, in immaculate condition, at an unbelievable price. With the help of Nate Savage's online tutorials, and all the lessons that I've gone through here from Christopher's beginners' lessons and exercises, I now know what a "scale" is, Major and Minor Pentatonic scales, strumming techniques, and am able to play quite a variety of songs, Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Bob Dylan, John Denver, Johnny Cash, to name a few. But, I am definitely going to continue ALL the beginners lessons. I just can't seem to put this thing down, and the more I learn the more fun I am having. I must tell you though, that I now know the TRUE meaning of John Lennon's statement, "I got blisters on my fingers"... LOL...
