Read the reviews of people who bought them for reference. That is an easy way to get a clue of what's good or bad in your range. That outfit lets you return guitars within 30 days if you're bummed. American Musical Supply is good too. I've bought guitars and effects from Sweetwater.com but have had a number of issues with them. They do however take stuff back if you don't like it. But don't trust their reviews--they only seem to print the good ones whereas Musicians Friend prints them all--good or bad.
