The genre that may very well carry the guitar into the future is country. Not my cup of tea, but if it keeps the instrument alive...then so be it!

We've seen genres like rockabilly and swing make comebacks, perhaps 10 or 20 years from now there will be a hair metal revival. Could happen!! :-).

Blues seems like it will never go away either. There, you have guys like Joe Bonamassa carrying the torch.

Guitar sales don't appear to be slumping, so somebody out there has to rise to the top...
