I have a whole series of tutorials aimed at this specific skill. But you really have to get the basic mechanics down first! That's covered in GF2 Chapter 3 when I discuss connecting scales & chords; seeing how they are two different ways of playing the same thing.
Chords are vertical, melodies (scales, licks, etc.) are horizontal.

Once you get those basics under your command, then you can go up to the next level with these tutorials that alternate between basic rhythm parts & lead parts. Or, rhythm chords, riffs & lead licks, melodies.
