People are big fans of Point-to-point wiring, etc. I reckon that 99.95% of people will neever notice the difference between a vintage amp and a good reissue (which most of the Fenders are, though lots of people choose to change the speaker and tube brands - check the Harmony Central reviews for info on that) in a normal giggind scenario. In fact, even in a recording studio, most people won't notice it that much, but I think when recording you want to use the very best you can find. Anyone disagree?
However, not buying a used amp because of warranty probles, etc. does get in the way of you getting a good amp for a lower price. Most guitar repair places know their amps enough to be able to fix vintage equipment, though if it is really vintage (read, worth heaps), you'd want to look around for someone who seems the most knowledgeable.
