You made a smart choice. I stopped taking private lessons years ago because my teacher kept going full steam ahead despite the fact that I wasn't totally grasping what we had done.

It's a great to approach and a great attitude to take a few steps back, review where you've been, and fill in any gaps you find. It's what I'm trying to do at the moment.
