I don't write music, so that's out. But, our church has a band and a few of the people write music. I might just break out in a solo on one of their songs or for talent show, I was thinking maybe I would just do an already well-known piece like "When the Spirit Says." It has a nice tempo and a bluesy groove to it that would allow for a nice solo, or something by a well known artist like Fred Hammond with the band backing me up. I have a lot of time to get the particulars together. In the meantime, I have to get my basic skills up to par. I might try trading my tambourine in for my acoustic at church from now on, just to get used to playing it there. I don't know. Maybe that will reduce the element of surprise.
