Hi there from first time poster. I just signed up about 3 weeks ago and have zero guitar experience prior. I had been planning on learning guitar when I retire in about 3 years since I stay kinda busy with 2+ jobs and all. Then I thought what the heck, even a couple minutes a day would get me going and maybe by then I can actually 'play' something.

I have an acoustic and electric, both cheapies for now, and obviously started with the core system. I've cruised through some of the other questions and answers here but still feel like such a goof trying to finger notes and chords.

I'm not very far along in the lessons, like at the melodies on first two strings. So I am wondering - how good/perfect/proficient should I be before moving on to the next lesson?

I also seem to be looking more at the tabs than the music. That helps me get my fingers in the right place but then I don't seem to 'recognize' the notes on the staff/strings.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Robb
