Question I have, What is best setup to use for wall covering to not make it sound like an echo chamber....but on a budget?

Are you recording a number of instruments at the same time? You need ways to isolate them (half walls etc). If not, no biggie.

As for acoustic treatments, depends on what issues your room has.

Curtains are good but only for high frequencies and limited at that. At least from what I know...not so much an expert as an observer in my past.

Is it a large rooms? Small room? I lively room?

A small, lively room needs a bit of dampening because sound will just bounce all over the place and with quick reflections, will be caught with undesirables with a cardoid mic.

If you want to buy cost effectively, don't buy from the online music shops for this kind of stuff. Way overpriced.

Here's an example of egg crate foam (click).

You only need a few. You are stopping the bouncing so a couple of pieces mirroring one another across the room might do.

You want to stop the bounce but you don't want to kill the room.
