Hello, I’m Joe. I’m 68 and live in upstate New York. My goal is to gain some confidence in finger and flat picking. I do enjoy playing with an electric. I am at the first step in the learning process.
I purchased my first guitar about 40 years ago (I’m 68 now). I bought some Mel Bay books, and song books. Yes, I still have a Simon AND Garfunkle book. I learned to play some melodies and chords on my own, and I even tried singing songs to my own accompaniment. That only proved I couldn’t sing. I had fun any way. I went on for years like that until I did a couple of strange things to my left hand. I put down the guitar for some years until recently when I thought I could have a go at it again. I started poking around the internet for lesson web sites. I came upon Guitar Tricks and found Lisa McCormack. That made me sign up for the course.
I thought that I was at some level of achievement in my guitar playing, but soon found out I was a rank beginner. Slowly I’m plodding through the basics. I wonder if I’ll ever get through basic finger picking, but I’m enjoying every minute.
