Hi Dave - welcome!!

We picked up a Mitchell acoustic guitar (3/4) for my daughter to learn on. For the money, it is a gorgeous well made guitar with good action. I was shocked at the quality binding and gorgeous finish. My daughter was drawn straight to it. Assuming the larger ones are built just as well, you should be pleased with it.

If you get stuck on a lesson, it's OK to move on but keep working on the skill you need to work on. There is repetition as you move forward, so whatever you were struggling with will likely come up again.

The key I find is to keep moving forward. Otherwise you get bored and frustrated with something that is supposed to be fun!
