Can be a waste of time.
I've been at this computer from about 10 am,and it's now approaching 1pm.I was supposed to be coding for some assignment I should hand in on Thursday.But am I coding?NUUUH.I'm talking to you guys.Just going through this site,and a few others,but mostly here.
And this is not the first time I've spent 2,3,4 hours on this site at one go.Not that it's necessarily a bad thing,but I think we should be careful how much time we spend with a keyboard under our hands,instead of a 6 string in our hands.
Case in point;Jon Broderick,the guitarnoise host and webmaster.He registered like a million years,and he only has a measly 165 posts.So you think that's a good thing,he hasn't spent so much time posting?Wrong.He's so busy with working on the site,he doesn't even take part in forum.Now if he's forum perfomance suffers,think about his playing.And don't tell me he's just a geek working on a guitar website,he might as well be working on a website for a rice-growers co-operative in Vietnam.He's a guitarist first and foremost.
Like my high school math teacher used to say,food for thought.
