Bardsley is completely right, there are no real "perks" to being a moderator dude. It's not like we get money or girls or free guitars. We volunteer to be here a lot to look over things, contribute advice whenever possible, and in very rare cases, manage arguments and keep order. It's not like we're the LAPD or anything.

It doesn't really do anything to increase your status on the board. What increases your status and reputation is the way you conduct yourself here- that is, the amount but moreso the quality of your posts.

All the mods I know have been here a long time. Each has had many months and many many posts before being a moderator was considered, because I think one aspect of being a moderator is being a leader; that is, leading discussions in constructive ways and steering them away from negative ones. That's why the six months period is in place, so you have a chance to firmly establish yourself.

You may well be a good choice man, but I think the six-month wait is a good idea.
