I'm a 57yr old f , live in NY wanted to learn to play for a long time, but kids, work and life got in the way. So it's now or never!. I've started with the core and was finally successful in playing Jingle Bells without mistakes (after about 30 tries) and I'm sure it was not up to tempo. The time went by so fast, it was a blast.
