I actually have the 212. I really like the amp and have no complaints on it's quality/sound, but I will tell you that unless you have the ABILITY to crank it up, then I think the 112 would be better for you.

I can never put it at full volume because it would just be way too loud for my room and house. So I'm not using the full potential of the amp. Plus it's a pain to have to carry around.

I bought it because I got an unbelievable deal on it. Around $400 brand new.

I would ask you what exactly you plan to use it for. If it is JUST for having it in your room to practice and learn on, then go for the 112. If you plan on taking it and playing live gigs or playing with a drummer, then go 212 because you'll need the volume. For a beginner, I don't see you needing a 212 though.
