hi DreamWashed ,, i am willing to bet that the pain in your hand begins in the first joint on your thumb, and then runs to the muscle between the thumb and index finger ,,,,,,,, i have the semi same problem , and have been playing for 40 odd plus years , try rubbing Ben-Gay on the muscle , it works for me
