Are you working on the blues course or some specific lesson?

The basic minor pentatonic scale box shape this pattern:

|---|-1-|---|---|-3-|---|
|---|-5-|---|---|-7-|---|
|---|-3-|---|-4-|---|---|
|---|-7-|---|-1-|---|---|
|---|-4-|---|-5-|---|---|
|---|-1-|---|---|-3-|---|

The "blues scale" is simply the minor pentatonic scale with the addition of the flat 5th scale degree:

|---|-1-|---|---|-3-|---|
|---|-5-|---|---|-7-|---|
|---|-3-|---|-4-|-b5|---|
|---|-7-|---|-1-|---|---|
|---|-4-|-b5|-5-|---|---|
|---|-1-|---|---|-3-|---|

Here are a couple of very simple beginner basic tutorials that will show you how to use these scales:

This tutorial teaches the theory of the pentatonic scale, why those box patterns are shaped as they are:

Some of the lessons using pentatonic scales, patterns & licks might be confusing because the notes of the boxes overlap & repeat each other in many places. This is because you can often play the same note in more than one place on the guitar!

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more info!
