KERNERSVILLE, N.C. -- Musicians in the Triad are banding together to help a renowned record producer find some stolen guitars.

The Winston-Salem Journal reported that eight mostly vintage guitars were stolen last week from the Kernersville recording studio of Mitch Easter.

Easter said the guitars are worth about $13,500 but their importance goes beyond monetary value. One 12-string Fender guitar was played by Peter Buck of R.E.M. on two of the group's albums produced by Easter.

Greensboro disc jockey Kathy Clark said the local music community pulls together to help its members.
