From the perspective of a mom with a job, (really 2 jobs), primary care taker of the kids with their own hobbies, and a goal of wanting to be in a band one day....
I am not worrying about how much time practice time I put in...I mean obviously you have to put in some/enough to keep moving forward, but I just do what I can...sometimes I can go 4-5 days at an hour - or two, to 5 minutes here, there, anywhere, sometimes its once after 3 days.... I just try to squeeze in what I can where I can. I really like doing several short sessions. (5 - 20 minutes) in a day...that can really add up. it also seems to work out between dinner, cleaning, kids, etc... With this irregularity, I have made progress, albeit very slow. but I also have realistic goals...I just want to be ready for a band in 5 years, when the youngest heads to college (or at least out of high school). My kids play banjo and mandolin and what they do in a week takes me a month, I just don't let that discourage me...I just keep plugging away.
All that is also why guitar tricks works so well for me, Its available whenever I need it to be available!!!!!!!!!!!! ( I also have a goal to be a guitarist, fully trained by guitar tricks.com)

so in the end...just do what you can and don't beat yourself up about what you can't do.
