It really sounds like you just have the volume on the lesson player muted. the video you download is the same video you play on the site.

Have you tried using different browsers? That might reveal a clue....

You might want to uninstall and re-install flash. Flash has an uninstaller program. Google "flash uninstaller" to find it. Then the re-install and that might provide a clue...
