Hi, I am not an instructor here, but I feel like typing. :)

First, if you ever plan on playing standing up, I would recommend you start practicing that way, at least part of the time. It takes some getting used to. I would recommend you take your guitar to a dealer or luthier and have them put a strap button on your guitar at the heel of the neck. I do this with all my acoustics because I happen to be one of those that won't tie a strap to the neck either! :) You can also put on a strap button yourself if you are handy and confident.

If you are always going to sit, then that's cool, too. I know of 2 positions: Assuming you are right handed, the most common is with the lower bout on the right side of your right leg, and the upper bout on the left side, so that hollow rests on your right leg.

Alternatively, put the lower bout between your legs, and rest the hollow on the left leg. I think this is the 'classical' position...?
