I never really worked on Hammer ons and pull offs untill I was able to clearly pick the notes at what I call a fast tempo. For example Paul Gilbert has no trouble actually picking each note at High speed... once I reached that point hammer ons , pull offs were not that hard to apply.it kinda fell into place tho I'm still no speed demon.
