I just started theory on my own.

I know that the Major scale is formed off of a whole step, whole step, half
step, whole step, whole step, whole step& half step.

In other words, a C-Maj. scale would be, C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C.

My question is, if I take A and I want to turn it into a Maj. scale, do I follow the same pattern as above
(whole step,whole step,half step, whole step,whole step,whole step & half step)

which makes all F's sharp?
