Our Rock course is geared for the electric guitar but the principles you'll learn at Guitar Tricks will generally apply to both unless they're electric specific, like pinch harmonics.

Acoustic guitar is a great place to start, it worked for me. Also acoustic guitars will strengthen your hand and fingers more so when you make the move to electric, you should find it easier to play.

If you haven't played in awhile or you're fairly new it's a good idea to start at the beginning. That way you get thorough grasp of the subject and you'll learn the correct techniques.
