Welcome JR. I tried to learn in the past, like 30 years ago and did not give it any effort, now I have been playing for just about a month and I have progressed farther and faster than I did when I was 16. Priorities change as we get older.

I often play my electric late at night without an amp and I can tell when I mess up I just have to listen harder, but if you are in a quiet environment you should not have any trouble hearing what you are playing.
