Hi everyone,

I've attempted to learn the guitar in the past but I've never really focused on it and tried to succeed. I'm currently in college (going for my RN license) but as a side project when I have some free time I am wanting to work towards learning the guitar. I have a Epiphone Special II that was given to me by my dad years ago and it's currently the only guitar I have. My interest in music is more acoustic based so I know in time I'll need to buy myself an acoustic guitar but I feel for learning the electric will suffice.

My problem right now is I do not own an amp and I was wondering if there was any problem with just not plugging it in while I practice. I do not think plugging it in to the amp does anything more than just make it louder and I am in a quiet setting right now where I can listen to the soft tones it produces.

Any tips or comments would be great.
