I only can play when my daughter and wife are sleeping.

Same for me. When the wife and kids are in bed is my time. Which generally means its after 9:30pm.

I practice as often as possible but as little as necessary lol :)

seriously, it comes out to about 1 - 1.5 hours on most days of the week. Any less than that and I start to lose technique.

I don't have a set practice routine but rather spontaneous times. I've played for years and never a pro but for the love of guitar and music. I'm rather bored but never stopped playing every day almost.

For my practice routine I put myself on the spot, make a song whether it's new or revamp. :)

For practice, practice the scales and chords but don't keep practicing them, use 'em.

well i practice alot. Like alot alot. I just graduated and have really nothing else to do so im able to practice more and i love it. I need some advice tho. I sit down after going ovr theory. And im ready to practice my chords and scales. Then I play like the first three notes. And I go off on my own song. Then I spend all my time practicing and focusing on the song I wrote. Which is GREAT but I still have got the chords I really want to get. Its so weird.

I generally get an hour/hour and a hlf a night, starting with Lisa spider warm up and then scales and then chords, i always allow 5 minutes at the end for some effects noise, nothing like that top gun riff to convince yourself you can play :)

I don't know how you guys do 4-6 hours at a stint. I'm up to 2 to 2.5 hours a night (I have a full time job and a wife so I have other priorities to balance). After 2.5 hours I'm mentally exhausted and my hands are sore.

That's good as you're improvising. Know what chords you're playing over and that chords share notes. :)
