If it's an old school Peavey Backstage 30, it's a Solid State amp. I used to have one a good number of years ago. Good amp for practicing. Can get decent tone at modest volumes. Like any combo amp and particularly one of the old configuration, once you hit the upper volumes, it starts to strain. It was my second Amp I ever own and did me well for a few years.
