Speaking of tuners, there are lots of kinds on the market and I find they all work pretty well. If you are playing electric and considering buying an effects pedal, some have a tuner built right in, so you could wait and save a few $.
Then there are the little box type. I have a couple that I never use anymore. They have a display meter and a mic for tuning acoustic, or you can plug directly into if you are on an electric.
My favourite model (aside from the one conveniently in my pedal) is a little clip-on tuner that I bought more because I didn't believe it worked than anything else.
It does have a mic, but mainly it is used by clipping on to your headstock. It picks up the string vibrations, rather than sound, so it does not matter how noisy the room is or anything. I just leave it clipped on my other guitar all the time for convenient tuning checks. The one I have is a "Solutions" brand that I paid $25 CDN for.
As far as paying for the site, the site admins can speak better on that, but I suspect no issue :)
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.
