I have friends who regret that their parents didn't support them early on and they never picked up a guitar. I took Jazz Ensemble as a Junior in High School to convince my mom that I needed an electric, I only had a classical guitar till then.
So, hang in there..you never know where your music can take you: personally, spiritually, emotionally, mentally..it's helped me get through a lot of hard times..and good times! :D
