Hmmm, no Dave Murray on your page? He's deffinitely the best of Iron Maiden's 3 guitarists.

1. Jason Becker
2. Jeff Loomis
3. Trey Azagthoth
4. John Schaffer
5. Dave Mustain
6. Jimi Hendrix

Seriously, Malmsteen is far too repetative in his playing and so is Hammett. Malmsteen is good but he's stuck in harmonic minor with no way out except blues and occasionally flamenco which is pretty much harmonic minor some more for him...which gets old fast...and Hammett does pretty much the same with really basic runs in the 12th and , tapping, sweeping etc...
In Both Cases it may sound good, musically it's boring.

Well, I'd say that if music sounds good it IS good. I mean, what's the point of being the World's greatest guitarist and have the best and most complex solos in the whole World but your music is no good?

And Hendrix? Hmmm, okay, he might have been a great guitarist (though personally I don't recall one of his songs I'd like) but I heard a funny story about him yesterday. Someone told me he was watching a documentary on Hendrix years ago while he was still living with his parents (probably like over 10 years ago), probably too loud... his mom came to his room and said "turn the vacuum cleaner off, will you?"

I have an idea.

Someone please make a new thread named "Best Guitarists top list 2." These 11 pages are starting to scare me. I think we need to start over.

I would like to comment on Yngwie Malmsteen again. After researching him and his work and such...yeah, he sucks. Well, he doesn't suck. Just too overrated. Like Eddie Van Halen. I strongly disagree that Kirk Hammett is like either of them, though.

Whoever said that Hammett is too repetitive, I must complain. He is a bit simple...but you have to LISTEN to it. Don't concentrate on recreating it. These are the "Best Guitarists." Not the "Guitarists that YOU can't play faster/better than."

Later all,
~Time is of the Essence...

I don't think that speed is important.
I don't think I can play better than Blackmore or Page either, but I think they are the best!
First, appologize for Malmsteen lovers :), but
Malmsteen is just uncreative, and he tries to cover it by playing evrything very fast. I think it's stupid. Blackmore says in his 10 notes more than Malmsteen in whis whole album.

See ya

U forgot Tony McAlpine. I think he was and still the youngest but one of the fastest. I think he was 17 when first to become famous!

I found his pic, just confirm me if it is him, so I can add him to my list.

Yeah, that guy can play the guitar and the keyboard at top levels. He's actually backing Steve VAI on his world tour...
