I have a '64 Martin New Yorker. I love playing it, it has a really sweet mellow sound. The frets are all original, but the 13th and 14th are starting to lift off on the low end, (low 'E'). So I get a little string buzz if I am up that high on the neck.
I also just got me a thrasher guitar to take along in my vehicle when I go camping or whatever. I paid $35 for it it is a six string acoustic called 'Franciscan', made in Korea. It plays ok for a $35 dolla geetar.
I am just getting back into playing after being away from it for many years. I don't know why I did not play, or even want to play for so long.
Well one thing is I can't stand the mainstream music industry. Not for me, yechhh look at the music today,,,,barf. Uhhh, can anyone ,,,,sing anymore? You know ,,like melodic singing, not just blabbing into a microphone?
I have been more inspired by not listening to the mainstream american music industry garbage and I started listening to music from other countrys and I got totally re-inspired to play again from CandyRat recording artists like, Andy McKee and Antione Doufor, and Sebastian Clouteir.
Especially Antione Dufour. Clean and precise, clear tones and beautiful composition.
I like the wider neck on my Martin New yorker, and if I get another guitar I would like a Martin with and OM neck or wider. I used to play classical and I like finger picking style.
Which is why I am here. I don't mind playing with a pick. But if I am going to play acoustic, I like just like playing with 4 fingers, thumb and 1st 3.
I am trying to learn in Lisa McCormick's lessons on basic Thumb and Index and Middle "P-I-M".
I like her teaching style and she has a nice voice too. My only complaint is it seems that the lessons are not arranged in an orderly manner here on this website and it is hard to navigate in a linear fashion through the difficulty levels.
But I am still able to find my way through her lessons.
I am still here at basic finger style.
I can't seem to download any of the lessons , I don't think you can. I have the Player, but none of the files show up anywhere on my computer (Mac).
Well I am going to play some tune 'fore I hit the hay. Take care and see you all later,
Mo
