Hi Tomass,

The link you posted is not working for me, but I think I've seen the problem you describe many times with other students. Hopefully I'm interpreting your description correctly.

One thing you might check is how your barre finger is angled. In other words, which part of that finger is actually pressing the strings against the fretboard? It sounds like you are losing pressure as you try to do other things with your other fingers. This may be caused by the fact that your barre finger is coming in at an angle that is compromising your best tone.

Take a look and see if you barre finger is using the soft fleshy part of the finger (flush with the palm, creased by knuckles), or, if it is twisted (rolled) out to the side slightly so it's a bonier part of the finger pressing the strings down.

For me, the best barre tone is achieved with this slightly "twisted" angle. In other words, the SIDE of my index finger, closest to the thumb, is holding down the barre-pressure. It's much more stable than the fleshy part. And that makes it easier to maintain the pressure and the tone, while making your other fingers do various dance moves.

Call me twisted.
Keep us posted, and good luck.
Best wishes, Lisa
