Hi GT’ers,

I just wanted to let you know I’ve recently revamped and reposted the popular Spider Legs Warm Up series. These versatile warm-up exercises can easily be adapted for beginner through advanced players. They are also equally useful on acoustic and electric guitars, and relevant for players of any guitar style.

Personally, I do some combination of these exercises before every practice session or performance. When I’m teaching private lessons, we always start with some Spider Legs Warm-ups.

These warm-up exercises address many skills, including:

For the Left Hand:
* Proper Hand Positioning
* Finger Stretch
* Finger Strength
* Finger Orientation and Coordination
* Tone Control

For the Right Hand:
* Pick Accuracy
* Picking Speed
* Pick Timing and Phrasing

For Both Hands Working Together:
* Two-hand Coordination and Timing

For the Brain:
* The exercise can serve as a useful context through which to learn the note names on the guitar’s lower frets, including gaining a basic understanding of sharps and flats.

This tutorial Opening Page includes a complete roadmap for the whole series, so you can construct a warm-up routine that is a good fit for your skill level and interests.

Enjoy – and let me know if you have any questions.
