I may be wrong but he probably did it that way on purpose so you can see the guitar from the players point of view.
I considered doing some of mine that way because it's easier to see what the instructor is doing but figured it would just confuse people.
(personally I prefer them that way...I had to learn a tapping solo off TV once and spent all day standing on my head. :)
