Hello all!

Yet another new guy coming to GT. I bid you a healthy hello!

I am extremely excited about GT. I am coming back to guitar from a very long lay off, and injury. I managed to destroy most of the tendons in my left arm, which affected the coordination and endurance in my left hand. So I am, for all intents and purposes, starting from scratch on guitar.

I'm an aging metal head, Army Infantry vet, turned corporate hack, turned software company entrepreneur, proud dad and husband who also has an affinity for blues and classical music.

Not only am I coming back to guitar for personal reasons, I have a three year old daughter whom I want to be well surrounded by music and the inclination to learn an instrument of her own. There is no better way than to lead by example. And it is as good an excuse as any to pick up guitar again, and buy more guitars!! :D

After my injury I sold most of my guitars, and amps. I kept a Les Paul, an Epi Masterbuilt EF500 acoustic, an 80's ESP Horizon, and a 1960's vintage Gibson acoustic (just for show, not play). Sadly sold off some nice stuff, the most missed being an Ernie Ball Petrucci. I've got a little Line 6 amp to get by until I can actually piece noise together that sounds like music once again.

Ah! for anyone looking to get a cool, and useful piece of guitar equipment: I just picked up JamVox by... well... Vox... Great piece of software from Vox that'll allow you to do amp and effect sampling on your pc, as well as the ability to remove guitar and vocal tracks from mp3's. It also makes a helluva practice tool.

At any rate! I'm looking forward to learning from the sages that are here, and making use of the lessons on GT. I've learned that I am a very visual learner, which is why I have extremely high hopes for this site.
