good guitarits can play pretty much anything
but when they're really jamming...they might
tend to fall back on some signature licks...
things that show up repeatedly in their songs..
for SRV...check out some basic blues licks

back to the question..
i get frustrated trying to play someone elses
solo note-for note..so i just go thru
their solos and practice parts that i'm
comfortable with....
i mean, even in the toughest solos....there are
some passages that arent that hard...
once you get these down, you should feel comfortable
about tackling the harder parts..
and it just feels good to say..
"whoah, i know this part of SRV's solo!"
