It's true that MD uses a compression algorithm that is destructive, but I actually like the sound I get (more bass and compression) so it's no big deal to me. It's pretty funny when you see those guys that use 24 bits 48 khz and all you can hear is their guitar pickups buzzing because of the monitor!

Remember that the beatles have recorded only with 4 tracks and on tape! So don't be over thinking the 'purity' of your sound...
