I Like Elixir strings too.

But also, make sure the action on your guitar is set properly (determines the distance between the strings and the surface of the fretboard). If it is set too high, you are having to press down much harder than you would if it were set properly. Have a guitar shop look at it and see if it needs adjusting - it could make a world of difference!
