from the description I think it may be an Epi re-issue of a 1961 Gibson Les paul sg Custom. Which was very similar to the later Sg guitar, but had a slightly different pick guard, and various different electronics internally.

Personally, I am not a big fan of Sg shaped guitars. I find them too thin, and the neck joints tend to give trouble after a couple of years.

Anyway, if you like the guitar that's all that really matters
