I don't pay enough attention to drummers to make a good descesion, but Shanon from Godsmack and Chris from Lamb of God are my favorites. I love the dual that Shanon and Sully do for their concerts.

Mike Portnoy is pretty crazy... and Jeremy Colson (Steve Vai Band) is incredible too. Saw Vai live and probably spent an equal amount of time slack-jawed at the drumming!

I'm gonna have to say Steve Jordan. He's pretty current and he's played with everyone from Clapton to Sheryl Crow. He definitely doesn't play super fast, but he lays down grooves like its nobodys business. Also if his set sounded any better, I dunno what I'd do. And who could imagine anyone these days playing with only 2 or 3 toms.

Mike Portnoy and Neil Peart for me. They are very similar in a lot of ways.

Another stream-of-consciousness list of favourites from me...

Billy Cobham (Mahavishnu Orchestra)
Nick Mason (Pink Floyd)
Keith Moon (The Who)
Omar Hakim (solo artist, I've seen a live video of him and he's pretty bitchin')
Charlie Benante (Anthrax)
Bill Ward (Black Sabbath)
I'll second Mike Portnoy
Roger Taylor (Queen)
Clive Bunker/Barriemore Barlow (Jethro Tull)
Brann Dailor (Mastodon)

- Attributed variously to Leadbelly and Louis Armstrong

A lot of great tech players on the list.
Although He's already mentioned; John Henry Bonham, hands down...
I also like Jiujitsu's choice with Bill Ward
(His work in "Fairies Wear Boots" is sick)

John Farriss - INXS, what that guy can't do on a drum kit ain't worth doin, end of! and the guy who drums for Blondie, don't know his name but he's the only guy i've seen perform a 5 minute drum solo and demolish a pair of sticks every 30 seconds, brutal!

Mike Mangini is a bad ass. He sets his drums up in a unique way...his tom's arent' in order from smallest to largest...they alternate.
