Do some research on the step pattern of the major and minor scale

Maj = (t, t, s, t, t, t, s)
Min = (t, s, t, t, s, t, t)

Pick a starting note on the high E string, say the 3rd fret. Put your first finger on it. (t)=Tone, that means.....from your first finger (3rd Fret) move up 2 frets to the 5th Fret, (s)=Semi-Tone which means move up one fret (3rd to 4th Fret). Now connect all the notes together using the step pattern (3rd fret, 5th fret, 7th fret, 8th fret etc...)And off to the races you go....
